Artitouch Murals
Rita Depuydt and Karel van der Heiden studied monumental art and painting together at the academy of art. Because of the revived interest in murals and artisanal painting techniques, they specialized in decorative painting and publicity painting as well and made their appearance as "Artitouch" in 1994.At present, you will find their murals and decorative work in Belgium from north to south and east to west ..... chateau
"Walburg" in Sint-Niklaas, the reception-room of
Interbrew in Louvain, the restaurants and pubs of
"Sunparks" resorts in De Haan and Oost-Duinkerke, to name but a few. During these busy years, they have treated many different themes for a large variation of customers.Because of this experience and their specialisation, they often take part in restoring projects nowadays. This activity ranges from stratigraphical and architectural research to actual restoring. Thus they participated among others in the extensive restoring of the unique stucco ceilings of the 18th century quadrangle corridor of the former monastery "De Noker" at Mechelen; in restoring the arch in "carton pierre" above the stage of the "Théatre de la Monnaie" in Brussels; in restoring the entire inside of the St Catharinakerk op het Begijnhof at Herentals to which they rendered the former splendor of the beautiful 19th century decoration of the presbytery; in restoring a number of chapels in the Cathedral of our Lady at Antwerp etc. Inquiries to participate in projects of restoring also come from abroad. Thus, they took part in restoring the marvellous 18th century columns in stucco marble of the "Paviljoen Welgelegen" at Haarlem, the Netherlands, which will be the administrative center of the province of Northern Holland. Often, restoring means consolidation of paint layers, minute repainting of damaged parts, repairing faux marble and wood, regilding etc. In this way our rich cultural heritage is preserved for future generations.
