Learn about Breitensport Jogging Cycling Agility Canicross / CaniX Flyball with hovawarts.
As a social dog sport Canicross or CaniX involves you and your hovawart cross-country running. It has it's routes in out of season training for sled dogs, and has now grown into a popular sport in its own right throughout Europe. The sport of canicross encourages people and their dogs to take part in an outdoor activity, meeting with other like minded people.
Canicross can be run with one or two dogs, always attached to the runner. The runner normally wears a waist belt, joined to the dog's harness by an elasticated line to reduce shock when the dog pulls. No special equipment or training is actually needed, though training is advised.
It is a versatile social dog sport that can be practiced anywhere by those that love to do things with their dogs. People of all ages and abilities can take part, including children and the disabled. All participants are first and foremost dog lovers, and although competetive races and events are organised, the race is secondary. The aim is to have fun.
