REPAIRS
GIBSON LES PAUL STANDARD

A friend brought in his Gibson Les Paul Standard which had a cracked headstock. A previous genius of an owner had stripped off most of the finish and set fire to the body bindings.

My friend asked me to give his guitar a bit of a makeover, by fixing the cracked peghead, scrapping and cleaning the burnt binding (it had only superficial damage), and applying a new wine red finish to the guitar.

He also wanted to replace the EMG pickups with Seymour Duncan humbuckers, and wanted a new tone circuit similar to the one installed in the Jimmy Page Les Paul.

However, the owner changed his mind and decided he wanted zebra Seymour Duncan '59's instead of the Alnico's he had originally set his mind on.

The '59's didn't have 4-conductor wiring, so the Jimmy page configuration was not possible.

Still, he was very happy with the result and his beat-up backup LP is now his main axe.
